| (Shih Tzu X Toy Poodle) Description: This "Poo" cross came into being to combine the delightful nature of the Shih Tzu with the less "punched in face" appearance and the low shedding propensity of the Poodle. The end result has been a cross that makes a wonderful family pet with a minimum of shedding. Height: 8 - 12 inches Weight: 8 - 10 lbs. Colors: Depending on the colour of the parents, the variance can be wide, but in general, they are often tri-coloured in various combinations. Coat: While there is no iron-clad guarantee, the coats typically have a low propensity for shedding. Temperament: Active, intelligent, loyal, and affectionate. With Children: Typically, this is an ideal dog for children. Their size and playful nature make them a family favorite. With Pets: Yes, gets along well with other dogs, cats and small animals. Watch-dog: Low Guard-dog: Very Low Care and Exercise: Regular brushing is important. Check behind the ears, hindquarters and beneath the shoulders for tangles. Professional grooming is recommended 4x's a year. Training: The Shih-Poo is quite easy to train but he will enjoy time spent in obedience classes with his family. Learning Rate: High, Obedience - High, Problem Solving - High Activity: Indoors - Moderate, Outdoors - Moderate Living Environment: He will adapt to living in just about any environment. With their size they make excellent dogs for apartments. Health Issues: Generally very healthy, the vigor in- stilled through this cross makes them less prone to the ailments that afflict the parent breeds, namely the breathing difficulties of the Shih Tzu.
